EVALUATION PREP.

In todays lesson began preparing for the evaluation for our music and advert production.


Evaluation- Question #1

-          A suggested approach to writing 7 conventions (rules) and form your media products (music video, advert)

-          How have you followed or changed the conventions (rules)?

-          3 elements to include=  textual analysis/ case studies/ critical theory

-          Incorporate and draw links between the three

 

-          Textual analysis on the video:

Denotation and connotation of:

·         Camera (movements, high and low angles, shot type)

·         Editing  (shot reverse shot, cutting rate, rhythm, jump cuts, transitions, colour corrections which connotes the past)

·         Sound (synching sounds with visions, non-diegetic sound)

·         Mis-en-scene (locations, props, makeup...)

The purpose of why you used a handheld/still camera

Use a different colour and make links to your case studies and why you shot something the way you did or why you chose the font you did. Using the same font that an existing advert has used…

Then apply theory to your textual analysis where it applies…

 

-          Textual analysis on the print product:

 

Denotation and connotation of:

·         Photography (shots)

·         Lighting (focus)

·         Effects

·         Lettering (font)

·         Combination of elements/ layout

 

-          Theories:

 

·         Genre= what type of musical genre used- specific conventions (theorist- Godwin)

·         Representation= portrayal of artists, messages attached, any stereotypes attached, sexuality- love + relationship
