FINALISING OUR MUSIC VIDEO

Near the end of editing we started to ask for feedback just in case we either needed to include or remove something. one of our peers mentioned that they did not understand the story of the music video or we were trying to portray in one of our footages. we then had to look into it and then decided to change the footage in black and white to make it clear and show the good times of both couples.
this then made it more understandable that we were trying to show the good times of the couples and by changing those footage =s in black and white made it understandable.

GROUP MEETING

Me and my group came together one more time to check the finalised product and see how it looked like and overall we thought that it was pretty good although we did think that we needed more shots of the couples together instead of them in separate shots throughout the music video.

EDITING

Whilst editing we had some difficulties deciding on where to place our "party" footage or whether to take it out of the whole music video. Due to the case studies/music videos we looked at we wanted to have a prologue so that it could set the story for our music video. we then then decided to keep the "party" footage and place it at the beginning of the music video.

EDITING

During the our editing time we realised that part of the footage was put of sink and it also was not clear which we had to change. This made it hard for us to carry on because it was the main part of the music video, so therefore we had to take a break from editing and book a studio session with our artist to re-do it again. however as soon as we did that we made sure that we went to edit it straight away as the date to finish editing was quiet close.

EDITING

So far so good, we've finished editing but unfortunately we still need a small amount of footage to include in our video which is a minor

FILMING

Today were able to film both of our actors and finish off what we started. The filming was prosponed for a very long time because our actress had family problem which caused her to drop out so therefore, we had to find someone else who would be available to take up that role. We eventually found someone and we will have finished shooting by the end of this week in order to start on the editing. So far so good

RESEARCHING AND PLANNING

A2 Media: Research and planning the moving image work

Research:

This year I chose to do a music video, which consisted research and planning into the type of genre I wanted to use and who it was aimed at. Compared to my AS coursework and my A2 there are similarities in terms of genre and target audience.  For my AS product I produced a music magazine into the genre of RnB, I chose to do this because I felt that because I listened to it I would be more comfortable in working with the sort of work that came alongside it such as the case studies I would use and the artists that I could access. My target audience were young adults from the age of 16+ and that’s also the same age range for music video.  Case studies for my AS coursework were to look into magazines of your chosen genre which is also similar to my A2 case studies which is looking into music videos of my chosen genre. From looking back at my researching skills from last year and how they are going now I believe that they have improved. I blog more often than how I used to before and I have related them back to the main product. In my case studies I chose to go into more depth about what sort of techniques I would also use in my music video which helped me think ahead of what I might need before starting on the filming. I made correlations form my case studies and plan for the music video and what needed to be changed or improved, which is something I didn’t do last in my AS coursework. I think it helps to see what you could include and analyse the differences from your own plan or how you wish your video to look like.

For my target audience I looked at my plan of how I wanted my magazine to look like and asked whether they would read it and they gave back some positive feedback and what could be improved but overall because they could relate to it, they were pleased with the content. However for my A2 coursework pitch my audience were also able to relate to what were trying to achieve from the type of artists we and the costumes/dress code to suit the whole concept. In terms of the feedback we received, there wasn’t much feedback from the audience which is why we assumed that there weren’t any changes to be made to our music video. Compared to the feedback I received last year and this year there is a huge difference because I feel that last year I was unable to understand much about what I wanted my target market to see so therefore there was space for improvements to my music magazine, such as changing the font, colours and also the artists positioning on the page. However this year because I’ve learnt to know how to present my ideas and to make sure that everything that needs to be included that I want to show to my potential audience is there, allows me to receive less negative feedback and less space for improvements.

Logistics planning:

In terms of organising locations, actors and costumes/props, as a group we were very clear in what we needed and we wanted. What we needed was looked at as the most important such as our actors; we had auditions to see whether those who auditioned were suitable to be in the music video. Unfortunately we did not find them suitable for the role we wanted to portray in the music video, nevertheless one of my team members took it upon her to look for some actors which did successfully and from there we were able to move onto the locations that w wanted to shoot at. This was done fairly quickly because the locations we chose were accessible. All the paper work (release form, risk assessment, recces, and call sheet) was done during the pre-production, as a team we did not see this as an important part of the work but filled those out to allow others to see that we have understood and gone through it.

In our team there are three of us, between us we divided roles to do to ensure we do not miss anything out. I did the storyboards and also planned out when and where we were to shoot first, Mariam kept contact with the actors, did their makeup and also directed them on set during the shoot and Shakera did the paper work (recces, call sheets, risk assessment and release form), we helped her on that because it became too much for her alone.  Compared to last year for my AS coursework I did not have as much tasks to do but it does not compare to the logistics from this year because tasks were divided in the groups chosen.

TEAM MEETING

Today we discussed on our final shooting dates and what role each of us undertake in order to ensure that everything goes to plan whilst filming. We also discussed our pre-production folder and how we need just had to finalise it by finishing off the recces. In order for the recces to be completed we need to be shooting at that location be if not than we are unable to take the pictures for the recces.

FILMING

So far the weather conditions hasn't been too good to film in and all indoors locations have been filmed which makes it harder for us to move forward with any filming. We were meant to film this past Monday but unfortunately it carried on to rain and because we all finish at 16:20 it tends to get dark quickly which prevents us from getting why lighting within the shoot.

FILMING CANCELLATION

Due the poor weather yesterday (Saturday 9/11/13) we were unable to film our footage in the location we planned to use, as time passed it carried on to rain so we therefore we cancelled for that day and changed the dates to Monday and Wednesday. This now means we have less time to film the rest of out scenes.

Thursday, 7 November 2013

TEAM MEETING

Today we choose to book our next filming date as we have a number of scenes that we have not yet covered. We will be using the DSLR camera along side camera rig as these scenes would be outside. We are planning to also film over the weekend to ensure we have enough done by next week.

Wednesday, 6 November 2013

TEAM MEETING

Today me and my other team member Shakera met up to look over the footage we filmed on our shooting days. Overall we thought that we had good shots and there wasn't any scenes which we had to go again. We were missing our other member Mariam but that was a minor.

TEAM MEETING- CHANGES TO PRE-PRODUCTION

Today me and my group looked over our pre-production work and looked over at where things needed to be adjusted or changed. we added our call sheet and release forms. We are planning to change our recce images when we film at certain locations because right now we are unable to take pictures for a few of our locations.

FILMING

.Today me and my group wet in college to do our studio shoot, we used both a black an back drop to include in different parts of the music video. Today we used the DSLR camera which allowed us to film more focused images which I found worked well compared to the Panasonic camera.

FILMING

Today we started to shoot scene 6 but only managed to do a small section as we were only an hour in the film studio. We had both our characters in there who just got on with their role for the video. We had Shakera as the director, Mariam helping with the lyrics and music and I set up lighting and camera. Although we filmed in front green screen were planning on also filming with a white/black back drop for a full effect.

CREATIVE IDEAS

Lyrics of the song: Rihanna ft Future

"Loveeeeeee Song"(feat. Future)

Ain't nothin' wrong with it...

I don't wanna give you the wrong impression
I need love and affection
And I hope I'm not sounding too desperate
I need love and affection
Love, love, love, love and affection
Love, love, L-O-V-E-E-E and affection

Oh baby, I'm not asking for the world, maybe
You can give me what I want
Baby, come hold me tight and when I'm drowning save me
Give it to me on a daily

If I'm your girl say my name boy
Let me know I'm in control
We both grown so how we feel we can let it show
I I I, won't play around
I I I, I wanna lay you down
I I I, I need you now, I need you now
Oh oh

I don't wanna give you the wrong impression
I need love and affection
And I hope I'm not sounding too desperate
I need love and affection
Love, love, love, love and affection
Love, love, L-O-V-E-E-E and affection

Boy lately, you've been stingy with your time
Got me wondering, I'm wondering if I'm on your mind
Boy I just wanna be in your possession
You say I'm the one you want so come express it

Don't slip, don't slip
Cause a nigga might push up on it
Don't really wanna lose this moment
Why window shop when you own this?
I I I don't put it down
I I I don't fuck around
I I I want you now, I want you now, oh oh whoah

I don't wanna give you the wrong impression
I need love and affection
And I hope I'm not sounding too desperate
I need love and affection
Love, love, love, love and affection
Love, love, L-O-V-E-E-E and affection

Can you love me for poor (let me know)?
I'm searching for my soul
Whoever turned you cold (beat this)
You need to let 'em know
I can work miracles (what's up?)
I work it physical (physical)
And when I love you close,
You can feel my heart beating thru my clothes

Future...

I don't wanna give you the wrong impression
I need love and affection
And I hope I'm not sounding too desperate
I need love and affection
Love, love, love, love and affection
Love, love, l.o.v.eeeeeee and affection

AUDIENCE FEEDBACK

Because I moved groups I'm unaware of the feedback my new team received but looking back at their pitch I saw that they didn't receive much negative feedback but they were told that the presentation was of good standard but our teacher was unaware of whether the locations that were going to be used on there was going to suitable for the scenes and also whether they would have access to it.

NEW PITCH

In terms of groups has been a slight change of plans so therefore my finishing product would not be the same as my previous ideas. I changed groups because I felt that in the other group I that the other two members were not really interacting with me when it came down to discussing new ideas for our music video. In this new group I plan to draw out the storyboard and participate in any other ideas which we could include in the music video.
This is a pitch of the new idea that I would be developing and working with.  however in terms of creative ideas that would remain the same, as well as props and settings.

CREATIVE IDEAS

These pictures show the types of costumes that we would be including in our music video.
We chose this vintage look to suit the type of music we are using which would include scenes in Brick Lane which is one of our locations which would suit this look. We want this look to be the representation of our whole music video.

AUDIENCE FEEDBACK

Audience Feedback:

In terms of audience we didn't receive much feedback except that we delivered good ideas in our pitch and the video ideas that we had, however we were also asked whether the two main characters would be the only ones being shown in the video our response was that we would include other participants alongside the two main characters. Moreover the audience understood the general theme  but not the narrative but in our response we mentioned that we would go along with the formation of the song and along with the lyrics, we would show how their love changes through time but also a montage of how it used to be using different shots.
The changes made was what we included in our location which was the idea of filming in a hotel to make the artist look as though they are in their room. Now we've changed it into shooting it in the artists house (room).

CREATIVE IDEAS

Summary:

This song is about a female who is deeply in love that she is lost in her own feelings about the guy she loves.  In the lyrics where its states that her love was “delusional” it explores the concept of unconditional love associated with a mental illness. She had a belief maybe better things would come, things she wished for but those things are so distant, almost human it's like she doesn't deserve for her dreams to happen like everyone else she lived in denial, denying this hopelessness she feels.. I think the promises she made and broke was for herself, her love didn't become better as she wished to be. so she has nothing left, feeling the cruelty of the world that could be one the reasons why she may feel as though she is no longer living in this world but lost in paradise. In order to adapt/show this in our video we would need ensure that we shoot in various areas that are not really surrounded by many people except from scenes we show her having fun with other people and her lover.

"Lost In Paradise" by Rihanna

How was I to know that my love was delusional?
Somebody tell me how to mend a broken-hearted soul
In love we all will fall but we fell a little harder
What am I supposed to do with this heart?

It may be wrong but it feels right to be lost in paradise

I'm so lost in paradise (lost in paradise)
If I open up my eyes
I can see the storm, I can see the sky
I can see the darkness, flashing lights
All my fears gone tonight
Let me stay, I'm lost in paradise

(Bass slap)

CREATIVE IDEAS

In this lesson we started to discuss what we wanted to do for our production. My group decided that we would go for creating a music video instead of a short film. We then decided to brainstorm ideas of the genres that we could choose to develop into. Our top 3 best ideas of what genre we should go into were POP, R&B and Soul music, after having chosen these genres we began to look into the type of songs we could use for production. we found out that the songs were either to fast or we just didn't approve of how we could construct it to become a music video. This is when we started looking deeper into the genre of R&B and the different artists that were in this field. One group member looked more into the idea of using a female artist (Rihanna) whom performs in the field of R&B,  we all agreed to look into her music and the ones that have not been released yet and found a song we could use "Lost In Paradise"
